Episode 5

In Azteck mythology, the Centzon Totochtin, meaning “four-hundred rabbits,” are a group of deities who meet for frequent parties. They are divine rabbits, and the gods of drunkenness. According to a now generally accepted interpretation, these deities represent the infinite number of forms intoxication can take in individuals of different temperaments and customs. The importance of the four-hundred rabbits is reflected in the fact that the Aztecs dedicated a temple in the sacred precinct of their capital, Tenochtitlan, to them.
